Florida 1st Congressional District

Gay Valimont’s historic showing in the April 1, 2025 congressional special election grabbed national headlines.  She was the first Democratic House candidate to win Escambia (Pensacola) County in 33 years.  The last Democratic presidential candidate to win the county was John F. Kennedy in 1960.  Districtwide, Valimont turned in the best Democratic overperformance in America in a congressional special election in the Trump Era.
